Our History
The main man at Design Guy - Paul Thatcher - has been in pre-press for over 30 years, having started out as an apprentice compositor in 1980.
Over the years he has seen the industry change from metal case composition through to hot metal, from hot metal to film and paper make-up, then the very first introduction of computer aided reproduction with systems from Compugraphic, Barco and Monotype to name but a few. Paul was involved in introducing and evaluation the first desktop publishing system in the UK and the very first Apple Mac and Adobe software.
During the past 30 years I have had the pleasure of training, employing and working alongside some the UK's leading graphic designers and artworkers. I've always been a hands on guy and have kept abreast of the changes in technology and the fashion trends - yep I had a lime green Ford Capri and permed peroxide hair in the eighties. I'm now grey, a lot fatter, still play football and can confidently say that my pre-press knowledge and my associated skill base is one of the most comprehensive in the UK.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has made me what I am and would especially like to thank the many clients that have stayed loyal to me over the many years.
